Lessons from when I didn't work on my business

A letter to you, who's struggling.

13 days go by in September and I finally want to get my head together for the last quarter of 2023. Tbh, I’d rather just write my thoughts down than to make excuses about why I couldn’t post or show up in over 2 years for you.

Well, this is my letter to you.

These last two years have been a ride. Nothing serious happened but I lost my sanity between loving my job, trying to build my business back up and a home loan.

No one told me that trying to look for a new house or even trying to sell one is nothing compared to maintaining one and it sucked the life out of me. I wish that would have happened literally, I would’ve lost some good weight in the process.

Anyways, the point is I’ve been neglecting my business, my friends online and clients for far too long. It’s time I came clean about what I did (and learnt) in these two years.

Here are my lessons from when I didn't work on my business:

1. Have faith in yourself (and first, God)

The ultimate help was from God and before you lose interest, I’ll tell you it’s worth the read.

There’s going to be a lot of personal testimonies while I share my experiences, but if you don’t share my belief, no problem. Just skip right through to the next part. BUT, it’s good.

“It’s God’s timing, not mine” - I believed this sentence like an affirmation. Every day, it became easier for me to fight my spiritual battles and by them, I mean EVERYTHING! Toxic relationships, fights with siblings, comparing, gossipping, financial and health issues - you name it. Then I just took a long breath and decided to give up control to God. Surprisingly, everything started falling into place miraculously.

Go ahead, try this. Imagine sitting under a tree in a garden and laying out your worries, say, a rose (for relationships), money (for finances), medicines (for everyone's health) and some documents (for business/ job) in front of God.

For me, it was Jesus. He was sitting in front of me and He filled it all up in his tote bag and said, “I’ll build a life out of these for you.” Get it? He was a carpenter and He was going to build my life for me.

Mind…blown…

2. Making time is not hard

Even though I was not posting, I was constantly creating content or working on my business in one way or another. How?

“Wow, the moon looks so pretty. Let me shoot a video.”

“This outfit looks stunning. I’ll shoot a quick video.”

“Ugh, I’m so bored travelling on the bus. I’ll just crochet to pass the time.”

No one has ever missed making reels like I have and with everything going on, nothing made sense. BUT instead I’ve spent so much time with my friends and family in these last 2 years. I don’t know when I was truly not creating memories while creating content too.

I’m going to start helping clients learn how to make content and convert it into sales. If you’re interested, sign up on this email list to be the first one to know about my 1:1 coaching.

3. Be patient with yourself

This is the most frustrating thing to hear someone say. Believe me, I know it. But instead of bad mouthing someone on their cliché advice, I learnt to turn to God. I asked Him to help me be patient and learn how I can work with my body, brain and mind.

Unfortunately, I’m not certified to help you with introspection but to start, talk to yourself. Nope, it’s not weird. Everyone does it!

I don’t want to undermine anyone’s beliefs but I know Jesus has done everything in favour of my life these 2 years. I kept looking at other people having successful businesses, comparing myself with them when He called me His daughter and literally showed me the clock and said “your time will come, daughter” Safe to say, it finally has?

P.S. If you’re one of those who think creating a fibre art business is not a big deal, here are some accounts to follow that have beaten every odd:
